Security Camera

Currently the video signal is pretty crap and the wiring is probably to blame.

Potential Improvements

Run 75 Ohm coax for video signal

  • We currently have a 500 ft spool of this on top of the hack shelves
  • Would require purchase of (screw on?) 75 Ohm BNC ends

Run a more reliable power line

  • Currently, there is ~12v running over two sets of pairs in a Cat5 cable
  • If we run a dedicated 12v line with more appropriate wiring, we will also be able to use that cable for an internet connection in the future

Install a composite video amplifier at the bottom of the stairs to help with the long run

  • An appropriate amplifier has been donated, but I think it would require more stable power (see above item).

Run Conduit

  • This would be great to have, but it's expensive and labor intensive.
  • Would this require land lord approval?
