Discourse

discuss.noisebridge.info was Noisebridge's community forum. It ran for about four years (roughly 2018–2022), hosted 1,088 threads, and then became defunct — as things do.

Fortunately, enough of it was crawled by the Wayback Machine that we were able to recover the whole thing. All 1,088 threads are now here, as of March 2026: verbatim, warts and all, archived into the wiki where Noisebridge history actually lives.

What's here

Every thread has its own page under Discourse/[Category]/[Date]_[Title], organized to mirror the original category structure. Each page carries a {{Discourse Archive}} banner with a link back to the Wayback Machine snapshot so you can verify the original independently if you want.

The categories run from the mundane to the essential — Announcements, Classes, Finance, Fundraising — to the things that really mattered: Guilds (where the guild model was theorized from scratch), Consensus_Items (the actual decision record), Safe_Mode (the 2019 crisis), Most_Unexcellent (conflict, handled and not), Weekly_Meeting (the pulse of the place), and Uncategorized (where most of the real conversation ended up, as it does).

Why bother

Because people said real things here. Fights got hashed out, ideas got developed, decisions got made — and a lot of that context just evaporates when a forum goes dark. The 3rd Philosophy Guild meeting happened partly because of threads on this forum. The Guild model got theorized here. We weathered the pandemic here. We coordinated moving the entire space from 2169 Mission to 272 Capp here. Plenty of drama too, which is also history.

Primary sources are primary sources. You should be able to read them.

Every archived page uses {{Discourse Archive}} at the top. It renders the amber banner that identifies the page as a primary source and provides the verification link. Parameters:
